Welcome to Fiddler on the Lawn!

Concerts

for a cause

in a crisis

In a difficult year of pandemic isolation and distancing, Fiddler on the Lawn has been lucky to find a way to perform casual classical concerts outdoors. We got started on Friday evenings in 2020, when a group of professional musicians came together to read through great masterpieces of chamber music, for fun and without rehearsal (!!), so that audiences and musicians could experience the wild adventure offered to us all through classical music. And now in 2021, we're back! Again, we're exploring great works, with no real  rehearsals, for free (but with suggested donation), as often as we can.

“Concerts for a Cause in a Crisis” — now to address that! Of course, we hope the “crisis” part of our concert series is drawing to a close, with so many of our performers and audience members vaccinated, but the “cause” part is still very much active! Last year, Fiddler on the Lawn raised $5,000 for OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center, a wonderful organization that helps people of all ages face the loss of loved ones. This year, we’d love to continue to contribute to the good work OUR HOUSE does, and urge you to help us meet or even surpass our $5,000 benchmark. It’s easy to do, on this website by pressing the “Donate” button, or, better yet, at our concerts! Please come and support the music and the kids, teens, and adults who turn to OUR HOUSE when they’re hurting.

All this summer, neighbors and visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs, snacks, drinks, and scooters for the kids (in case they get antsy), and enjoy the music. Click on the "This Week's Concert" button at the top to see what's brewing now. And the musicians are grateful to have a chance to get back to what they really love about making music. Reading chamber music brings musicians and audience closer, even while observing some social distancing!
